FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

·        How many volunteer hours do I have to do to be an active member?

o   You must perform 1 individual volunteer hour per month and 1 group volunteer activity per semester (choose 1 activity provided by PPS; you are welcome to do more than one).

·        If I do 4 individual volunteer hours in September, do I still have to volunteer in October, November, and December?

o   YES!  You have to volunteer at least 1 hour EVERY MONTH.  In other words, we do not accept “roll-over” hours.

·        Do I need to submit proof of my volunteer activities?

o   Every time you perform a volunteer activity (including individual and group), you need to submit your hours online at www.ullpps.org.  We trust that you will be honest when submitting your hours.

o   One member with the most volunteer hours throughout Fall 2008-Spring 2009 will receive an award at the annual PPS banquet in the spring semester.  So, submit your hours!

  • I don’t know where to volunteer for my individual hours.  Do you have suggestions?

    • Journey Hospice (see attached page for more info)
    • Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic
    • UL Center for Child Development
      • Call 337-482-5739 or email Susan Arceneaux at srh8016@louisiana.edu
    • St. Joseph’s Diner
      • Call 337-232-8434 and tell them what day you want to help
      • 403 W Simcoe St,   Lafayette, LA 70501-5829
    • Sertoma Club—Sertoma Cajun Air Festival
      • Place:  Lafayette Regional Airport
      • Date:  November 1st & 2nd
      • Contact:  Jeremy Lemaire at 337-257-8508
    • Or, you can come to any of the PPS group volunteer activities to do your individual hours.  Just remember, you cannot double-dip.  For example, if you do the Heart Walk in November as your group activity for the semester, you still need to do your November individual hour.  Another example:  If you come to a PPS Clean Up Girard Park in September and choose to have it counted as your individual hour for September, you still need to do a group activity for the semester.
